SHOW ME SPACE 2010
June 26th, 2010
116 East School Street
Bonne Terre, MO 63628
11:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.
“Houston we’ve had a problem!”
A tribute to the 40th anniversary of Apollo 13.
In keeping with the theme of the event our special guest will be Mr. Jerry Bostick. Mr. Bostick was the lead Flight Dynamics Officer for the Apollo 13 mission. His knowledge of the event would later allow him to become the technical director for the Ron Howard movie “Apollo 13.” You will not wish to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to hear the inside story of this famous historical event by one who lived it. Mr. Bostick’s presentation is not only informational but very inspirational. As he unfolds his first hand account of the efforts that were made to save the crew you will understand why Gene Krantz would later describe it as, “NASA’s finest hour!”
Mr. Bostick will be speaking at 3:30 P.M. in the Heritage Hall building next door to the Museum.
In addition, the Space Museum will be hosting Dr. Liz Warren. Dr. Warren is an employee of Lockheed Martin and is heavily involved with the medical aspects aboard the International Space Station. At 36, she is a perfect example of what can be achieved if a person only has the desire to excel! Prepare to be amazed as she recounts her personal achievement and describes life in space!
Dr. Warren will speak at 1:30 P.M. in the Heritage Hall building next door to the Museum.
If this were not enough, there will be more than 25 other exhibitors from the Saint Louis Science Center (they will be bringing their Segways and the Unisphere) to the Titusville Astronaut Walk of Fame! There will even be a moon rock provided by NASA and the Rockwood School of Creative Learning.
Food and beverages will be available though out the day. (Refreshment prices are extra and set by the vendors)
FESTIVAL PRICE:
FREE with a paid admission to the museum. Museum admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and active military personnel. Children under 5 are free. (There are small optional fees for the Segways and the Unisphere)
MEET AND GREET
At 5:30 that evening there will be a meet and greet which will be OPEN to the public. You will be able to get up close and personal with those who are making and have made history! This is FREE! The Museum is however suggesting a donation of $20 but any amount will help us fulfill our mission. A live video conference is being planned with the crew; Jim Lovell and Fred Haise and maybe even Gene Krantz.
SEE YOU THERE!
